ANDREW MCCAFFERTY
It is with real excitement and a sense of anticipation that I write to you as I step into the role of leading the team at Willow Creek Australia. 2011 is set to be a great year as we stand alongside you and other Christian leaders to envision, equip and encourage you as we engage together in the mission of seeing people transformed by Jesus through his church.
Let me share something of my journey and commitment to you as Christian leaders as I commence at Willow Creek. I have had the privilege of serving God through Scripture Union in Queensland for the last 16 years, where I have been responsible for leading and managing the school chaplaincy and other ministry programs. It’s been a humbling experience to see God’s hand on this ministry, and to be able to learn about growing and developing ministry leaders. I am part of a team that has successfully planted a church in the North West suburbs of Brisbane and I serve on the board of Malyon (Baptist theological) College. As well as the practical experience in leadership, I have taken time to study leadership through a post graduate Masters program.
Good leadership makes a difference, and great leadership makes an impact. I have really valued Willow Creek’s input into my own development and together with the staff at Willow we are looking forward to serving you and your church or ministry, by growing the potency of your leadership.
More personally, I am married to Mary and we have 3 children, David, Kate and Brooke. Our lives follow the familiar pattern of many families with school age children, following them around to various sporting and cultural activities!
I am looking forward to meeting many of you at our events throughout the year and I trust that together we can see “God’s kingdom come” in our communities around Australia!
